Archaeological Museum in Vid open

A new and interesting small museum is open at the historical site Narona.

The museum is placed where the Augusteum was, the temple of Emperor Augustus, and displays the 16 status of Emperor Augustus, members of his family, and other Roman high officials and deities.

New Ferry between Peljesac and Mljet

Two ferry lines will operate between the mainland and the Island of Mljet 4-5 times every day.
One from Trstenik to Pomena – as usual - and one from a new ferry terminal that will open in Prapratno at the Peljesac peninsula in April 2006.
The ferry between Prapratno and Sobra on Mljet can carry up to 300 passengers and up to 60 cars and the journey will last about 30 minutes.


World Bank, Croatia sign modernization deal for Ploce Port

Zagreb, 3 September: An agreement on 1.75 million dollars advance payment on a loan to be used for a project of modernisation of the southern port of Ploce was signed in that Adriatic town on Saturday.

The entire project covering the construction of a container terminal and a bulk cargo terminal is worth between 60 and 75 million dollars.

The biggest southern Croatian seaport is mainly used as a gateway by neighbouring Bosnia-Hercegovina for the export of its goods and import of raw materials.

ROME, Feb 22(Hina) - Croatia has a great future also because of its cultural heritage, the Holy See Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, said in the Vatican Museums on Tuesday evening at the opening of an exhibition on the August Shrine in the former Roman colony of Narona called "Augusteum from Narona - Rome on the other side of the Adriatic".

Narona is an ancient town and the remains are located in the village Vid, 25 km from Komarna. There is more information on Komarna Holiday website.
